Dear Parents and Guardians,

As you are now aware, there will be Baseball in Norwalk this summer.  The Lefty Grove Board of Directors voted recently to re-open the season. We are doing so with individual health and safety in mind.  With national and state covid numbers increasing, we will continue to follow State and Local recommendations throughout the season.

Responsible Restart Ohio, from the Office of Governor Mike DeWine, has issued guidelines for the re-opening of summer Baseball.  The Lefty Grove League will be implementing and monitoring compliance of these mandates. We are asking that everyone respect and follow recommendations established by the State of Ohio. Below are some of the recommendations that will be in place for practice and games:

  • Physical distancing (6 feet) must be maintained at all times for everyone.  Coaches and players must also follow distancing rules on the field, except when the ball is in play.  (Families may sit together.) Bleacher seating will be limited to family groups with separation from others in the bleachers.  Bring folding chairs. Avoid congregating in groups at the Shelter House.

  • Spectators, at this time, are strongly encouraged to wear face coverings or masks, but not required to do so.

  • Spectators, coaches and players must conduct self-assessments prior to arriving to the fields.

  • If any symptoms are present, (including a fever or chills, cough, difficulty breathing, muscle pain, headache, sore throat, new loss of taste or smell), the individual must not come to the park.

  • There are to be no team or shared water coolers.  Players need to bring their own marked water bottle.  No equipment is to be shared by players.

  • Hand sanitizers will be available in each restroom.  Spray bottles of disinfectant will be available for coaches to sanitize equipment after each use.  Everyone is encouraged to bring their own small bottles of hand sanitizer.

  • Use of the restrooms will be limited to one person at a time.

  • Sun flower seeds, gum, spitting are not allowed on the fields.

  • A ‘no-touch’ rule will be in effect.  Handshakes and high fives are prohibited after a game is completed.

  • Once the game is completed, avoid large group discussions or gatherings at the field or parking lot.

A Word about Players Fees.

When we initially closed our 2020 season, some suggested their fees be used as donations to the League in honor of Mr. Ford.  Some also requested that fees be rolled to next year.  While others requested refunds.  We thank you for your kindness and generosity.

Now that the season has re-opened, we would like to streamline our bookkeeping.  If your child is now playing in our abbreviated season, we would like to proceed as follows:

  • For those who already were refunded, please mail your new Player’s Fee for this year ($40.00 for Senior Division and $30 for all other Divisions) to Lefty Grove Baseball, PO Box 918.  Norwalk, Ohio 44857.

  • For those who rolled fees to next year, fees will be applied to this season.

  • For those who initially signed up to play this summer, but now are not playing, fees will be refunded, unless designated as a donation to the Lefty Grove League. (Let us know if you would like to change your selection at leftygrovenorwalk@gmail.com)

(Legends Players should discuss any fee questions with their Legends Coach.)

We thank you, in advance for your cooperation.  We look forward to a safe and happy baseball summer.
